"Prince"
Brown pony
"Prince" was my first "real" horse. He was one of those that nobody paid for. Whenever one family's child would outgrow him, he would go to someone else who had a small child that could ride well enough to stay on him! When we got him, he was in his early 30's and everyone who ever rode him won at least one saddle on him. When I first started riding Prince, he would always dump me on the end pole because he would turn so hard! I would get so mad and dust myself off and get back on to go again. I finally stayed on and learned how to ride a "fast" horse. I was the last kid that got to ride Prince; we ended up winning the All-Around saddle in 1990 for the 8 & Under age group in the Pro-Youth Rodeo Association.

Jans Crescent "D.D."
Crescent Bar Bee X Carla Jan X Tom Traveler
1979 Bay Gelding
"D.D." was the follow-up to "Prince." We went to a lot of jr. rodeos on him and he could do it all and do it well! In 1993, "D.D." went blind in his left eye. As a result, he was only used for goat-tying and breakaway roping. In 1993, we won the MRCA Goat-Tying and Breakaway Roping titles for our age group. |

Timely Bid, "Timer"
Now Is the Time (TB) X Burnt Pleasure X Burnt Spur
1982 Sorrel Gelding
After "D.D." went blind, we were in need of a barrel horse. So, my mom had talked to a friend and barrel horse trainer about finding a nice solid horse that would work for me. The result was a trip to Canada to pick up "Timer," a multiple Canadian NFR finalist. The lady that had him didn't want to rodeo hard and wanted him to go to a good home. He was PERFECT for me! The first open/amatuer rodeo we ever entered we won by several tenths. Needless to say, it was all over from there! We won the TCRA Barrel Racing Rookie of the Year in 1994 (I was 12), 1995 Stan Guffey Memorial Superbowl of the Nation Pee Wee Barrels, just to name a few. I also got to run him in the Astrodome in the AQHA barrel race they had in conjunction with the rodeo. I remember everybody else's horses were going crazy because of the live band right beside the alleyway, but "Timer" was one that fed off of the loud music and big crowds. This horse is still so special to me; he had an amazing amount of heart and try, and he taught me what it felt like to be a winner in the arena.

Ampliflyin, "Amp"
Strawfly Special X The Atomic Rocket X Dash For Cash
2000 brown gelding
"Amp" is the first young horse that I have trained and campaigned as a futurity horse. The way in which we acquired "Amp" was such an odd set of circumstances; it was just a God thing that we ended up with him. We had gotten ahold of the sale catalog for a small ranch horse sale in southern Oklahoma through a friend who was looking for a kid horse for his child. Our friend ended up giving the catalog to us, after deciding against a horse for his daughter. I picked it up and started flipping through it; most of the horses in the catalog were cow bred, with only 2 horses that were straight running breds, so of course the 2 "runners" were the ones that stood out to me. I saw "Amp" in the catalog, and really liked his breeding, but I was entered in a barrel race on that weekend, so I didn't think that I would be able to go.
The horse that I was entered up on I had purchased from my former roommate. When I wanted to start riding again, my mom told me she wasn't going to buy me a top notch horse (she knew what they were going to cost!!), so I ended up with this one. I basically retrained this horse and started entering him up. It was really frustrating because he would work awesome at home, then when we went to a barrel race, he would usually blow off of the first barrel on the backside. After our first run on Friday not going like I wanted it to, I really didn't want to hang around for our second run. My mom said that instead of running again, we could turn out and go to the horse sale. So, we decide that is what we were going to do. We head up there to the small town of Rush Springs, OK, and when we park, I look over to my left and there was "Amp." Let's just say he wasn't very happy about being tied up to the trailer by himself. We walked over there to him and when we got there, he just stopped and stood there looking at me. We ended up purchasing him pretty cheap since there wasn't anybody there looking for a well bred race horse.
Amp was incredibly easy to train. Our first futurity we entered, the OKC BFA Juvenile Futurity, we won the Amateur Average title. Amp went on to win the Speedhorse Silver Cup Futurity Non-Pro Championship, as well as several jackpots and rodeo placings his futurity year. As a seven year old, we really starting struggling. I had taken him to some of the most highly recommended vets in our area since he was an early five year old because he wasn't getting consistent, and would get sore after a couple of months. After they all ruled out EPM, they would just tell me it was his hocks, inject them, and tell me to go have fun. In 2008, after filling my permit at the D&G in Waco on Friday, then not being able to walk in a circle with his hind end underneath him on Sunday, I decided to just turn him out. I knew something was really wrong and that he needed time off. I decided to take him to a different vet, who told me the same thing that the others did. Talk about frustrating!! Then one day, my good friend Charlotte Cunningham called me and told me there was a vet in her area that I needed to take "Amp" to. I was skeptical, thinking I was going to hear the same thing again, but decided to take the chance. He correctly diagnosed "Amp" as having a stifle injury.
After six months off and rehab, we started running again in the fall of 2008. I have learned so much from this horse and the journey that we have taken together. God has shown me through "Amp" to have faith, patience, humility, and character when it's going good, when it's not, and to just let Him handle it!

Tactical Kid
Tactical Cause X Miss Sword Plate X Triple Deck Bars
1999 Bay gelding
"Pedro" is my project horse right now. I decided to slow him down and do things a little differently than how he was doing them previously. I put a training fork and split reins on him and now he is FANCY broke and keeps his head low! He has made great strides and I look forward to being able to run him soon.

Mr. Kerrizan 194
Zans Par X Kerri Prescription X Docs Prescription
1994 chestnut gelding
I love this horse!! "Zan" has became my rock. When Amp was hurt, "Zan" came to me with first barrel issues. I was going through a rough time with Amp's injuries and not being able to go and have fun running barrels, but God gives you what you need when you need it, and we got to where we were running in the 1D at the jackpots around the house with really nice first barrels! I use "Zan" now as my backup horse and in small pens. He is also a pro-caliber calf roping horse and qualified for the AQHA World Show as a 5 year old in calf roping and team roping (heading and heeling). He is one of those who never has a bad day and will work as hard as he can every time you saddle him up. |

Streaking Avalanche, "Herbie"
Cat Strike TB X Royal Streakin Snow X This Snow is Royal
2005 bay gelding
We bought "Herbie" as a green broke 2 year old. He was started by Charlotte Cunningham since I was teaching at the time and didn't have time to ride another horse. She did an excellent job! We turned him out and gave him some time to "grow up" and I got back on him in the early spring of this year. He is already running pretty close to some really nice horses in our area. I am looking forward to running "Herbie" in the 5 year old futurities and use him as a backup horse at the rodeos next year.

Mocha Powder, "Mocha"
PG Gunpowder X Dividash X Mac N Dash
2006 brown mare
"Mocha" is another horse that found us. My husband saw her as a yearling walking up in a pasture a few miles down the road from my mom's house, and it was basically love at first sight. We had gone over to Carolyn Stewart's place to help a friend of ours look at some horses some other people had taken over there. None of them interested us, but when Sammy saw Mocha, he immediately told "Stew" that if they ever wanted to sell her to call us. She wasn't for sale at the time, but a few months later, she had called and said they would sell her, so we bought her! She is the first predominately cow bred prospect that I have trained, and I LOVE her! She was loping a solid pattern 2 weeks after seeing a barrel for the first time. I am excited about this horse's future and look forward to the futurities with her. We also own her dam, Dividash.

Eye Soar Am Hot, "Slasher"
Eye Soar X Missy P Hottrodder X Colonel Hotrodder
2006 grey mare
"Slasher" came to me as an outside horse, but I liked her so much we ended up buying her. She has an incredible move behind her barrels and an amazing mind. She is so athletic it is almost scary! Nothing ever bothers her and she takes everything in stride. I am looking forward to running her come December! |

Eyesa Superman, "Superman"
Eye Soar X Big Reds Annie X Big Red Solano
2007 grey gelding
"Superman" is from our first crop that we have bred and raised. He is out of one of Sammy's cow bred mares that he used to rope off of whose Sire is an NCHA World Champion. He is HUGE, especially since his dam isn't very big at all. He is very athletic and laid back. I think that is a trait that the Eye Soar offspring possess, because all of them that I have been around are this way. |
| |
Eye Soar On Faith, "Faith"
Eye Soar X Loxies Pink Tornado X Son O Quixote
2007 red roan mare
"Faith" is another Eye Soar filly out of a cowbred mare. We ended up losing her dam, "Pink," because she started having strokes. Therefore, "Faith" is very special to us since this is the only foal we got out of her dam. She is a super light mover and very catty. |

Weanling Colt, Name Pending
Eye Soar X Big Reds Annie X Big Red Solano
2009 sorrel colt
This is our newest edition; he is a full brother to Eyesa Superman.
He is very cocky and independent! |

Big Reds Annie
Big Red Solano X Handle Bar Annie X Handle Bar Doc
1999 chestnut mare
"Annie" has had two foals for us so far. Before she was a broodmare, she was my husband's prospect that he was training for calf roping. After we graduated college in December, 2005, he didn't have time to finish her out, so we decided to breed her. I am glad we did because I see a lot of her traits passed on to her babies. She is bred back to Eye Soar (#3!) for a 2010 foal. |
| |
Dividash
Mac N Dash X Dandy Divinity X Bob O Lynx
1999 sorrel mare
"Divi" came to us after we bought "Mocha," one of her foals. The same lady had her and called me up one day and said they were going to sell her. So, we jumped at the opportunity, and I am glad we did! She is bred to Eye Soar for a 2010 foal. |

Loxies Pink Tornado
Son O Quixote X Roanies Pink Ice X Watch Roanie Joe
1997 red roan mare
"Pink" is the dam of "Eye Soar On Faith." This was the only foal that she had because she started having strokes and we had to put her down. "Pink" was one of those horses that you could do anything on. She adjusted to whatever rider was on her; if Sammy or I was on her she knew we were going to ask her to run and work hard, but if you put a kid on her, she would only go as fast as she was asked. She was one of those special horses and I still miss her.
